Pilot Metropolitan Rollerball
Posted by Lois Ho on
The Pilot Metropolitan (or MR in some countries) is one of the most popular beginner fountain pens available, but little is said of the other products in the Metropolitan range. They also have a rollerball and pencil available and I picked up a white tiger edition of the rollerball.
The rollerball has the same pen body as the fountain pen and pleasingly, the grips are interchangeable so you can switch up your rollerball into a fountain pen if you have both. Its just saved me from buying a white tiger fountain pen now, so that’s great to find out!
The rollerball comes with the standard pilot gel refill – I think this one was a juice refill (it doesn’t write as globby as the G2), which is a nice cost effective refill when you need it, but its not a true rollerball. However, the Schmidt 888 I had does fit and that’s a standard European sized rollerball refill. You should be able to find something you enjoy using to fit.
If you’re looking for a nice upgrade to the standard gel pen body, this is certainly a lovely, cost effective solution. They can be a little harder to find, but its definitely worth it.
