Pelikan K205
Posted by Lois Ho on
When I picked up the M205 Star Ruby, I was keen to try the K205 matching ballpoint pen as well. I have always been curious about it and I was keen to pick up a clicky, retractable pen that took a Parker G2 refill.
The Pelikan K205 comes with a smooth Pelikan ballpoint refill, but as you know, I prefer my Pierre Cardin gel refill, which I swapped in for the review. The Pelikan K205 takes any Parker G2 sized refill so you have plenty of options if you don’t like the standard refill.
The click mechanism is nice and smooth with a satisfying (but not too loud) clicking noise. Its sturdy and doesn’t rattle. It’s a lightweight pen and feels a little bit cheap in the hand, which I don’t find in the M205 pen. I’m not entirely sure why, maybe I expected a little more weight to it. The size is quite thin and with the weight of the pen, its really comfortable for long writing sessions.
The Star Ruby finish is beautiful – red, demo and sparkly – what more could you want? It’s a similar finish to the Conway Stewart Red Stardust acrylic but in demonstrator format – its extremely unique and very very pretty.
If you’re looking for a reasonably priced, clicky pen, this is a great option. Its now available in the Moonstone finish, which is a grey, demonstrator, sparkly version, or for higher end pens, this style is also available in the M4xx finishes.
